Social media is ruining relationships

You don't want to miss the part where your parents and siblings are enjoying a film together or your partner's face is beaming with joy after achieving a good result in exam, do you? But that that is happening around the planet.     We've lost the true moments with our friends and family of our life because of social media. Ironically, by engaging with social media, we have lost the true moments of our life. In our quest to connect virtually, we disconnect from our reality and the people in it. We lose the experience of happiness in the process of trying to refine our smile for public consumption. Our attachment to positive reinforcement through likes and comments will keep us detached only.     A tool to connect us with others makes us feel isolated and obsessed over the appearance we're making, the responses we're getting, the impressions we're giving.    If devices constantly interfere with our conversations, we undermine our ability to...

স্রষ্টা হতে চিঠি! ( Letter from The God! )

Letter from The God!  Many years ago a farmer named Ravid lived in a small village of Sylhet. He used to work in other people’s lands. Because he hadn't got any ground of his own. He toiled hard for earning livelihood. His children weren't allowed to play outside in the fields. Mostly he was cheated by landholders and the affluent people of whom he worked for. Ravid was very distressed about all these.       One day like a marvel, he found a land at a cheap price. It had a rate of 80,000 taka. He wanted to buy that ground. But he had savings of only 60,000 taka. So, he needed more money. He requested his friends and relatives for lending him some money. But every time he had to hear, “You’re nothing but a poor peasant. How will you return it?’’ And the land owner even didn’t agree to decrease the charge.      But Ravid had a master plan. He knew that who wouldn’t refuse him. He decided that he would ask God for money! He...

A clever experiment: THE PHANTOM ROAD

A clever experiment reveals how fake traffic noise drives songbirds out of forests and harms the ones that stay behind. In the autumns of 2012 and 2013, any hikers walking along a particular ridge in Idaho’s Lucky Peak would have become very confused. One minute they’d be enjoying the tranquil chirps and rustles of a temperate woodland. The next, they’d be immersed in the unnervingly realistic sounds of a roadway: metal rushing past at speed, tires rolling over asphalt, honking horns. The nearest road, however, was several miles away. These noises were coming from 15 pairs of large bullhorn speakers that had been lashed to the trees. The hikers were walking along a phantom road. This half-mile corridor of disembodied sound, this road in noise only, was the work of Jesse Barber and a team of scientists and volunteers from Boise State University. Their goal was to answer a simple question: How does the bustle of traffic affect the presence and health of birds? ...

The Thing That I Like Most

I like astronomy. More than anything in the world. I like absolutely everything about this subject. Astronomy lets me learn what the world is for. And how little I am a creature compared with this huge Universe.                         The things I like best about the Universe are its wonders, its creations, its objects and most importantly, the infinite amount of secrecy it has in every step of its creations that are yet left to be discovered. It lets me know that I’m a pinpoint sized creature, who lives in a pinpoint sized planet of a pinpoint sized Solar System of a Galaxy- which is a very little part of a huge masterpiece. This prevents me from thinking myself to be superior.          Astronomy lets me think something large. It lets me peek through the sky to discover something, to realize the uncontrollable ener...

RAMPAL POWER PLANT IS GOOD FOR BANGLADESH

THE BIG QUESTION  WHY ?   1)   The power plant is essential given our increasing demand for electricity. It will boost our economy up. The government too is adopting enough measures to ensure the environment is not at risk. 2)   N o  reasons exist from preventing the development of bilateral or regional agreements in order to utilize these resources more effectively  and contribute towards the creation of a local energy hub. THE 2nd BIG QUESTION  HOW ?   (1)   The funnel of the plant would be about 0.3 km high. So, the smoke emitted from the coal burning would not harm the mangrove forest.   (2)    Only imported coal will be used, which burns much more neatly than coal from local sources.   (3)  The use of super critical technology at the plant.

Glass is produced from the mineral Mica
